Rock Pool

 

Its very exciting today because our rock pool is finished.

We have added sand from Kaiteriteri Beach to the bottom of the rock pool and put the last of the shells onto the rocks.

We are going to show our rock pool to our class today and share what we have learnt.

Today we started placing different shells that were found at the beach onto our rock pool. Theo and Chihiro glued Rock Oysters, Limpets, Mussels and Kina onto the Rocks

MAKING ROCKS

Rocky Shore

 Making the rocks was lots of fun.

We had to scrunch up newspaper and then wrap our coloured paper around the newspaper to make the rocks. It wasn't long before we had made lots of different shape rocks...

Benjamin, Chihiro and Theo have been busy finishing painting the rock pool and now they are onto making the rocks.

First they needed to mix black and white paint to make the different shades of grey for the rocks.

CHIHIRO HELPS WITH THE PAINTING

Chihiro helped paint the sides of our rockpool. We wanted the sides to be dark blue and we learnt that we needed to add black paint to the blue to make it darker.

Theo next painted the bottom of the rockpool. We wanted this to be light blue so we added white paint which made the blue lighter.

Theo and Benjamin are busy painting a box that we are going to transform into a rock pool.
